William E. “Gene” Lemon Sr., 76, of Ashland and formerly of Wadsworth, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021 at Samaritan Medical Center in Ashland after a brief illness.
He was born on Dec. 8, 1944 in Wood County, WV to William Alonzo and Regina (Woodring) Lemon and for the past 38 years he shared his life with Lisa Sanders who survives. He was a self-employed drywaller and in later years collected and sold pallets. Gene was a member of the Eagles in Ashland and over the years loved camping, the Pittsburgh Steelers and time spent in West Virginia. His grandkids brought him much enjoyment and he will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his beloved companion, Lisa; children, William Lemon Jr. of Akron, Robert Lemon of Ashland, Tiffany (Tyson) Wittman and Misty (Jon) Brown both of Nova and Dawn Sanders and Shane Sanders both of Ashland; grandchildren, Hunter Piteo, Landin Sanders, Carter, Chase and Grayson Brown, Addison and Kassidy Sanders, William Owens, Shaun Roland and Joseph and Sharice Lemon; great-grandsons, Michael Harris and Ryan Lemon and sisters, Linda Buohl and Ruth King.
He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Nutter, a grandson, Christopher Roland, father, William Alonzo Lemon; mother, Regina Massie and sisters, Mary Riggenbach, Charlotte Barger and Helen Ostrander.
Services will be Wednesday, Oct. 27th at 1:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with burial following in Creston Maple Mound Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com
