Wayne E. Kahrig

Wayne E. Kahrig, 86, of Wooster, went home to be the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021 at Smithville-Western Care Center after a period of declining health.

Wayne was born March 27, 1935 in Lewisville in Monroe County, to the late George and Laura (Christman) Kahrig.  On Dec. 31, 1968 he married Hester Ann Murphy and she survives.  Wayne was a 1953 graduate of Lewisville High School and retired from the City of Wooster Parks and Recreations Dept.  A faithful servant of God, Wayne had been active in Mountain Vision Ministries and attended Oak Chapel United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife Ann; children, Kathy (Jay) Chupp, Clinton (Connie) Kahrig, Clayton Kahrig and Tom Reed; 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; brothers, Meredith (Linda) Kahrig and Wilfred (Bobbie) Kahrig and sisters, Lillian Kaiser and Edilene (Fred) Coblentz.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Letha Shipe and Viola Paulus.

Services will be Friday, Sept. 3rd at 1:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg with Pastor John Finn officiating.  Burial will be in Moreland Cemetery.
