Wavelene Lula Cowger

Wavelene Lula Cowger, 88, of Apple Creek, passed away peacefully while surrounded by her loving family on Monday, Sept.  18, 2023.

Wavelene was born in Blandville, WV on Feb. 5, 1935 to Alfred and Laura (Lipscomb) Blake. On July 17, 1952 she married Elton Cowger and they made their home in Apple Creek. Elton preceded her in death on August 7, 2005. Wavelene was a member of the Wooster American Legion Auxiliary and in her spare time she enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting, gardening, and going to the beach. She will always be remembered by her family as Grandma Dippy.

Surviving is her son and daughter-in-law, Roy and Brenda Cowger of Wooster; her daughter, Lula Cowger of Wooster; grandchildren, Derek Cowger, Shannon Witt, Nathan Cowger, Chelsie Cowger, Amanda McCoy, Brandon Norris, and Joseph Defils; 5 great grandchildren, Kobe Witt, Karter Witt, Kyson Witt, Kyndal Witt and Kreed Canter and her granddog, Rayah Joi.

Wavelene was preceded in death by her husband, Elton, her daughter, Brenda Myers, her parents,  brothers, Earl Blake, Kenneth Blake and Harold Blake and sisters, Susie Nicholson and Rosalene McKinney.

Services will be Thursday, September 21st at 1:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg with Pastor Donna Stallings officiating. Burial will be in Apple Creek Cemetery.
