Walter “Walt” Ammon Jr, 90, of Wadsworth and formally of Seville, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 1, 2024 at The Inn at CoalRidge with his wife of 67 years at his side.
Walter was born on September 10, 1933, in Creston to Walter Sr. and Anna (Fecher) Ammon. Walter joined the United States Army serving in active duty from July 22, 1953 to June 3, 1955 and would go on to serve in the Army Reserve for 6 more years. He married Janet Bauer on August 11, 1956, and they were blessed with two sons Michael and Kevin. He retired from S&S Contractors in Kidron. When he wasn’t working or with family, Walter could be found in his wood shop, making furniture or doing other projects. When he was younger, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of Jerusalem Evangelical Church.
Surviving is his wife, Janet Ammon of Wadsworth; sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Lisa Ammon of Smithville and Kevin and Joy Ammon of Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren, Shawna (Tim) Mathew, Zachary, Brandon, Laney, Locke, and Chase; great-grandchildren, Corbin and Charlotte; brothers and sisters-in-law, Roger and Carol Ammon of Wooster and Richard and Joyce Ammon of West Salem and sister, Dorothy Booth of Wooster.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Pearl Morrison, Twila Dyck, Louise Ferguson, Helen Litman and Howard Ammon and brother-in-law, Larry Booth.
Services will be Monday, April 15th, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Jerusalem Evangelical Church, 9282 Acme Rd, Seville, OH 44273. Burial will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. After the burial ceremony there will be a luncheon provided back at the church. Calling hours will be Sunday, April 14th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston.
