Obituary

Virginia A. Cochrell went home to be with her Lord and Savior on July 30, 2023 at West View Healthy Living after a period of declining health.  She was born on August 26, 1934 to John and Ruth (Steffani) Kline in West Salem.  She was #6 out of a family of 10 brothers and sisters and she grew up on her family’s farm near West Salem.  She would often remember the days of cleaning chickens, butchering hogs, and helping with household chores.  She graduated from the first consolidated graduating class of Northwestern High School in 1952.  She married Ralph Cochrell on Feb. 28, 1953 at the West Salem E.U.B. church.  He preceded her in death in Nov. of 2022. She and Ralph would begin their married life on his family’s farm.  In 1960, they decided to sell the farm and move to Creston.  She worked for Westfield Insurance Companies for 25 years, retiring in 1991.  Virginia enjoyed camping, gardening, singing hymns, and most of all spending time with her family.  Virginia’s unwavering faith in the Lord, made her a steadfast prayer warrior for each member of her family.  She attended Chapel Services at West View Healthy Living.  She loved to sing hymns and found great comfort in the words.  Her favorite was “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms”, often telling us “What have I to dread, What have I to fear…Leaning on the Everlasting Arms”.

Surviving is her son, Steve (Kay) Cochrell of Mansfield and daughter, Sandy (Richard) Steward of Wooster.  She has two grandchildren Matt (Catherine) Cochrell of Columbus and Rachel Steward of Wooster.  Also surviving are a brother; John (Rita) Kline, Jr., and sisters; Sue (Jerry) Ungerer, and Linda Kline.

In addition to Ralph, she was preceded in death by her parents; sisters; Evelyn Daniels, Pauline Hawthorne, Donna Silverman, Carol Cochrell, and brothers; Gene Kline and Robert Kline.

A Service will be held Thursday, Aug. 3rd at 2 pm at West View Healthy Living Chapel located at 1715 Mechanicsburg Rd. Wooster with 1 hour visitation prior to the service at 1 pm.  Pastor Kirk Fairhurst and Pastor Bud Olszewski will be officiating.  Private graveside service will follow at Creston Maple Mound Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Life Care Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691 or West View Healthy Living Chaplain Fund.

The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the Assisted Living Staff of West View Healthy Living, Pastors Kirk and Eric Fairhurst, and Ohio Life Care Hospice of Wooster.  The thoughtfulness, loving care and kindness given to Virginia by both of these staffs is so much appreciated.   Murray Funeral Home in Creston is handling arrangements.
