Vesta "Patty" (Cunningham) Houseworth

Vesta Lavaughn “Patty” Houseworth, 85, of Gales Ferry, CT, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 13, 2020 after a period of declining health.

Patty was born Oct. 18, 1934 in DeCabe, Gilmore Co., WV to the late Charles Kenneth and Loretta (Snyder) Cunningham.  She had worked as an LPN at the Shady Rest Nursing Home in Creston and had been a homemaker.  She was a member of the Oakwood Road Church of Christ in West Virginia and was a member of VFW 629 Ladies Auxiliary in Morgantown, WV.  Patty enjoyed crocheting and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving are her children, Donna L. (Donnie) Garrison of Burbank, William H. (Kellie) Houseworth of Creston, Loretta M. (Richard) Kent with whom she made her home in Gales Ferry and Charles N. Houseworth of Tucson, AZ; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.  Patty is also survived by brothers and sister, Bill (Cheryl) Cunningham of Creston, Sandra Heilman of Creston and Gene (Karen) Cunningham of Fripp Island, SC; a brother-in-law, Robert Moran of Burbank and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Darrel D. Housworth, a daughter, Lynn E. Houseworth; a granddaughter, Tina; her father and step-mother, Charles and Mary Cunningham; her mother and step-father, Loretta and William Jennings Koehnlein; sister, Chrystaleen “Midge” Moran and infant brother and sister, Josephine and Otis Cunningham.

Services will be Thursday, June 18th at 3:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston where friends may call from 2:00 until time of services at 3:00 p.m.  Patty will be buried at Three Popular Church Cemetery in Glenville, WV.  Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com
