Shirley A. Wengerd, beloved wife and mother, went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2022.
Born on Sept. 3, 1941 to Lester and Sarah (Detweiler) Zook, Shirley married Ernest L. Wengerd on June 15, 1963 and she worked alongside Ernie as he pastored over 20 years. Her ministry was to send out cards for birthdays, anniversaries and special occasions. She loved children and over the years took care of 12 foster children in her home and she volunteered in the nursery for a number of churches. She will be remembered for her kind and loving spirit.
Surviving is her husband, Ernie of Wooster; children, Violet and John Zugg of Liberty, SC, Wesley and Tae Wengerd of Akron and Daniel and Donnette Wengerd of Norton; 8 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren; a brother, Vern and Joy Zook of East Canton and a sister, Floy Lapp of Port Allegheny, PA; She was preceded in death by a daughter, Valerie; her parents and a sister, Donella Coblentz.
Friends may call Thursday, Jan. 13th from 5-7 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston where Pastor Tom Broyles will conduct services at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be private at Tod Homestead Cemetery in Youngstown.
