Shirley Louise Hoisington, 82, of Creston, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 26, 2023 at Akron General Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Shirley was born on June 21, 1940 in Sardis, OH to the late Lester and Lula (Ingold) Bertschy and was a 1958 graduate of Norwayne High School. On June 20, 1959 she married Harley Hoisington and he survives. Shirley assisted Harley having been the bookkeeper for his business, Crestview Electric, and was the property manager over their many rentals. She was a member of Congress Community Church and had been active in the Canaan Community having been secretary and treasurer of the Canaan Cemetery Assoc., and was active with the Canaan Community Center and the former Canaan Methodist Church. Shirley enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds and spending time at the River House in Newport but her family always came first and was her greatest love.
Surviving is her husband, Harley; children, Steven (Terri) Hoisington of Canaan and Sonya (Chris) Yutzy of West Salem; her much loved grandchildren, Rachel Hoisington, Megan Hoisington, Nicole Yutzy and Zachary Hoisington; brothers and sisters, Floyd Bertschy of Creston, Arlene Fetzer of Wooster, Inez (Gary) Bowman of Creston, Larry Bertschy of Creston and Lucy (Larry) Herman of Placida, FL; sister-in-law, Eva Ewers of Creston and nieces and nephews.
Friends may call Wednesday, May 31st from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston. Services for the family will be held at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Tadd Sponseller officiating. Burial will be in Canaan Cemetery.
