Sarah Jane Steele, 74 of Seville, passed away Friday, Dec. 25, 2020 at Summa Akron City Hospital from health-related complications.
Sarah was born Oct. 10, 1946 in Wheeling, WV to the late Richard and Betty (Anderson) Bates. Sarah married Edward R. Steele on Sept. 24, 1966 and they celebrated 54 years together. She worked as a secretary at Vermerco and had been the manager for Creston Station Apartments. She was a Boy Scout Leader, Pee Wee Football Cheerleading Advisor, and helped manage the concession stands for the Seville Little League Baseball organization. Sarah was an active member of the Seville Presbyterian Church where she sang in the choir, participated in many groups, and served as the church secretary for 30+ years. Sarah bowled on several leagues in Lodi, Creston, Wadsworth, and Medina, enjoyed watching and attending NASCAR events, playing games of chance, but her greatest enjoyment was her grandkids and being a part of their many activities.
Surviving her are: husband Ed; son Tim Steele (San Diego) and his partner York Lackey; daughter Kim Wood (Creston) and husband Nick; grandchildren Mikayla and Nathan Wood; sisters Dolly and Ronnie-Sue; nieces and nephews including niece Cindy (Gray) Steele; many dear friends; and her beloved pets Shadow and Nikki Bird. She is preceded in death by her parents and her twin-sister Sharon.
The family will receive friends at Murray Funeral Home in Creston on Tuesday Dec. 29, 2020 from 4-7 p.m. Services will be held at Murray Funeral Home on Wednesday Dec. 30, 2020 at 10 a.m. with the burial immediately following the service at Seville Mound Hill Cemetery.
