Samuel J. Fry, 87, of Shreve, passed away Sunday, May 17, 2020 at his home after a brief illness.
Sam was born Feb. 23, 1933 in Wayne County, WV to the late Goble and Sula Mae (Lycans) Fry. He married Wilma Weiermiller on Dec. 18, 1950 and she preceded him in death on June 16, 1986. Sam later married the former Donna Foster on Nov. 7, 1987 and she survives. He retired from the Packaging Corp. of America in Rittman in 1995 after 42 years of service and had made his home in Burbank prior to moving to Shreve in 1995. Sam was an avid hunter and was a member of the Holmes Conservation and Beagle Club.
Surviving are his wife, Donna; children, Marsha (Bill) Betson of Wooster, Darrell (Melanie) Fry of Buchanan, TN, Gail Nelson of Lugoff, SC, Michael Fry of Rochester, OH, Jeffrey (Michelle) Fry of Bellville, Rebecca (Gary) Morris of Shreve and Michele Copley of Wooster; a step-son, Todd (Tammy) Sipple of West Salem; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 8 great great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by wife, Wilma, a grandson, Stanley Fry, a brother, Willard Fry and sisters, Loretta Brumfield, Helen Pruty, Lola Napier and Corina Joseph.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, May 20th from 4-8 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. Due to the current conditions, social distancing is requested. Sam will be laid to rest at Peaceful Gardens near Fleming, WV.
