Roy Edward Robinson, 80, of Creston, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 21, 2023.
Roy was born on July 22, 1942 in Wayne, WV to Fieldon Leonard and Pricia (Porter) Robinson and graduated from Wayne High School. On June 22, 1959 he married Evelyn Watts and she survives. Roy was a loving family man. He was hard working, running Roy E. Robinson Construction and building houses throughout Ohio for over 25 years. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life like working in his garage or sitting on the porch swing in the evening. His grandkids call him “The Great Hunter” for he was always out on the first day of deer season no matter what the weather was like. Roy took time to teach the grandkids how to fish, telling them a story of how as a young boy growing up in West Virginia, he would sneak out and go fishing before going to school. Roy loved being around his grandkids and they loved being around him and listening to his jokes. Both Roy and Evelyn attended almost all of the grandkids’ sporting events, which were many, and he enjoyed watching the great-grandkids running in the yard and laughing.
Roy will be greatly missed by his wife, Evelyn of nearly 64 years; his children and their spouses, Brian and Sue Robinson, Brenna and Alaska Hall and Bradly and Becky Robinson all of Creston; grandchildren, Anna Roller, Jennifer (Brian) Mocko, Joe Robinson, Elizabeth (Nathan) Winningham, Nate (Liana) Robinson and Brett Hall; great-grandchildren, Sterling, Brooks, Lacey, Iris, Sloane, Ryder and one on the way and a sister and brother-in-law, Janice and Larry Thompson of Wayne, WV.
Roy was preceded in death by an infant son, Kenneth; grandson, Tyler Edward Robinson, his parents, brothers, Russell and Ray and a sister, June Foshee.
Services will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with burial following in Creston Maple Mound Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Canaan Township Fire and Rescue, PO Box 2223, Creston, OH 44217.
