Roy Willis Armstead, 78, of Rittman, passed away on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2021 at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster from Pulmonary Fibrosis.
Roy was born on May 11, 1943 in Clio, WV to the late Waitman H. and Wilma (Gandee) Armstead and was a graduate of Walton High School in Roane Co., WV. He served in the U.S. Army from 1962 – 1964 and on Aug. 17, 1972 married the former Patricia Sue Tanner who survives. He had made his home near Rittman for the past 44 years and had worked over the years at Convalve, Winters Industries, North American Products and B&C in Barberton. Roy enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching Old Westerns on TV, gardening and playing horse shoes.
Surviving is his wife, Patricia Sue; daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and Jack Starkey of Creston; son, Eric Armstead of Wadsworth; grandchildren, Samantha (Ryan) Mack, Megan (Landen Arledge) Bellomy, Nick Armstead and Nathan Armstead; great-granddaughter, Hazel Mack, who was always the highlight of his day, and brothers, Howard Armstead of Evans, WV and Waitman “Cog” Armstead of Huntsville, AL.
A son, Roy Jr., his parents and a sister, Betty Shearon preceded him in death.
Graveside services will be Saturday, Oct. 9th at 11:00 a.m. at Creston Maple Mound Cemetery. Friends and family will be received from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston. Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com
