Robert Dale “Wally” Wallace, 84, of Rittman, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Friday evening, May 1, 2020 at the Avenue in Wooster.
He was born in Rittman on Dec. 15, 1935 to the late Bert and Minnie (Walters) Wallace and was a 1955 graduate of Rittman High School where he was active in various sports. On Jan. 18, 1958 he married the former Pauline Smith at Grace Brethren Church in Rittman and she preceded him in death on Dec. 7, 2010. Wally retired from the PCA in 1997 after 54 years of service and was a member of Grace Brethren Church. Wally’s life revolved around family and sports having been a coach for Pee Wee Football for 30 years and a youth baseball coach. He played softball for many years and never missed a grandkids sporting event. He will be remembered for never having met a stranger, for his love for others and for never giving up.
Surviving are his children and their spouses, Jeff and Lauren Wallace of Smithville, Mike and Christi Wallace of Creston and Jennifer and Glenn Jr. Moyer of Creston; grandchildren, Ryan Wallace, Whitney Wallace, Summer Wallace, Ashley and her husband Mike Tetzel, Adam Wallace, Logan Moyer, Mason Moyer, Amanda Daily and Brandon Wallace; great-granddaughters, Sydney Daily and Avery Wallace; a brother, George and his wife Irene Wallace of Crossville, TN and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, a son, Terry Wallace on Nov. 11, 2010 and brothers, Bert, Gene, Harold and Joe.
Private family service will be Wednesday at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Bud Olszewski officiating. Burial will be in Rittman Cemetery. Friends will be received on Tuesday, May 5th from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home and social distancing is requested.
