Robert Earl Franks, Sr., 95, of Creston, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022 at Accord Care Center in Orrville after a period of declining health.
Bob was born on Dec. 9, 1926 in Reedsburg to the late Walter Earl and Mildred Lee (Shoup) Franks and was a 1944 graduate of Creston High School. On Oct. 9, 1948 he married Anna Mae Reed and she preceded him in death on Nov. 21, 2021. Bob retired from the PCA in Rittman after 41 years of service and had also been active in farming the family farm in Canaan and had transported livestock for many years. He was active in the Canaan United Methodist Church, had been a 4-H advisor and had shown sheep at the Wayne County Fair and other area fairs for many years. Always a supporter of the Wayne County Junior Fair Lamb Sale and was recognized by the Wayne County Agricultural Society for his many years of showing cattle and sheep at the Wayne County Fair.
Surviving are his sons, Robert Jr. (Helen) Franks and Bruce Franks; son-in-law, David Colich; grandchildren, Amy (Dale) McPherson, Bill (Carrie) Winkler, Kelly (Jake) Sigler, Ben Franks and Dustin Franks; 7 great-grandchildren; a sister, Bonnie Thompson and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Mae; daughter, Connie Colich; his parents and sisters, Jennie Clevidence and Louise Simons.
Services will be Thursday, June 2nd at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Lori Burdette-Steele officiating. Burial will be in Canaan Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
