Rita Ann Pernod

Rita Ann Pernod, 65, of Creston, passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2022 after a brief illness.

Rita was born on May 22, 1956 in Beckley, WV to Earl and Joyce (Wood) Sumner.  She graduated from Columbia High School and retired from Sealy Mattress in Medina.  She had made her home in Creston for the past 33 years and Rita enjoyed doing crafts and decorating for the holidays.

Surviving is her husband, Paul E. Pernod who she shared the past 20 years with; a son, Jason Byron Woodrum of Wooster; step-children, Jonathan Paul Pernod of Barberton and Stephanie Lynn Mullins of Creston; seven granddaughters and one grandson; one great-grandson; her parents, Earl and Joyce Sumner of Columbia Station and two brothers, Earl Nicholas Jr. (Carol) Sumner and Keith (Courtney) Sumner both of Virginia.

Rita was preceded in death by her sister, Donna Lynn.

Services will be Monday, Jan. 10th at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Greg Davis officiating.  Burial will be in Creston Maple Mound Cemetery.  Friends may call Sunday, Jan. 9th from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
