Raymond Pope Obituary

 

Raymond John Pope, 91, of Seville, passed away Saturday, Jan. 9, 2021 at Akron General Hospital after a period of declining health. 

Ray was born Dec. 2, 1929 in Parma to the late Leonard and Helen (Darr) Pope and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War having been stationed in France.  On June 9, 1956 he married the former Beverly Ann Simcox and she survives. He retired from Medina Supply, formerly Best Ready Mix, and had made his home in the Lodi area where he served on the Lodi Fire Department.  He had been a former Boy Scout Leader and Little League Coach and had been a member of several camping clubs. He collected Hess Gas Trucks and classic collectable model cars and he enjoyed lawn work and being with family.

Surviving are his wife, Beverly; daughters and sons-in-law, Kathy and Chuck Bushman of Safety Harbor, FL and Carol and Tom McDermott of Seville; his son, Gary Pope of Medina; grandchildren, Kristen, Dawn, Jason, Mark, Laura and Nick; great-grandchildren, Jacob, Chase, Kyle, Blake, Logan, Derek and Mallory; 2 brothers, Tom and his wife Pasty Pope and Bruce Pope; a sister, Cheryl and her husband Ron Eagle; sisters-in-law, Lois Pope and Shirley Pope and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers and sisters, Harvey, Leonard, Robert, Ruth, Doris and Lorene.

Services will be Wednesday, Jan. 13th at 2:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston where friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until time of services at 2:00 p.m.  Burial will be in Burbank Cemetery.  Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com
