Obituary

Phillip F. Jenkins, 80, of Creston, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2022 at the Avenue at Wooster after several battles with cancer.

Phil was born on Feb. 10, 1942 in Zanesville and was the son of Albert and Ann Louise (Brubaker) Jenkins.  He graduated from Wooster High School in 1961 and later from the National School of Meat Cutting in Toledo.  He began working as a meat cutter at Buehlers in December 1962 and spent nearly 45 years working there until retiring in January 2007.  On April 3, 1965 Phil married Margery Laflin at the Creston Methodist Church and he had made his home in Creston since that time.  Phil was a lifetime member of the Creston Lions Club having joined in 1969.  He served as Governor of District 13 G and had served on the Ohio State Lions Governor’s  Council.  Phil received numerous awards and recognitions including the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award.  He was a member of the Creston Canaan United Methodist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Marge; his children, Scott Jenkins of Creston, Christina and her husband, Michael Weinman of Wooster and Holly and her husband Adam Alfred of Creston; his much loved grandchildren, Tyler and Emma Alfred and special family friend, Jason Metheney. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant granddaughter, Elizabeth Alfred. 

Graveside services will be Saturday, Sept. 17th at 11:00 a.m. at Creston Maple Mound Cemetery with Pastor Lori Burdette-Steele officiating.  There will be no calling hours.  Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com  Memorial contributions may be made to Creston Canaan United Methodist Church, PO Box 1111, Creston, OH 44217 or to the Creston Lions Club, 177 S.  Main St., Creston, OH 44217.
