Paul “Peanut” “Alabama” Morrison, 90, of Wooster and formerly of Seville, passed away on Friday, Nov. 17, 2023 at West View Healthy Living in Wooster after a period of declining health.
Paul was born on June 18, 1933 in Ford City, AL to Thomas Lemuel and Sally Pearl (Wesson) Morrison. Because of his size, he was nicknamed “Peanut” as a child. He moved to Cleveland at the age of 18 to find work and met the former Shirley Jean Bachman of Creston while roller skating at the Wooster Skateland. They were married on June 11, 1961 and they lived near Seville where they raised their four daughters. Paul was nicknamed “Alabama” and retired in 1981 from Ford Motor Co. Brook Park Foundry. In 1985 he started driving semi-trucks and he drove all over the United States for many years. Paul loved trucks, tractors and motorcycles and enjoyed riding his Gold Wing until the age of 82. He enjoyed traveling in his motor home, especially to his beloved Alabama and attending auctions. He attended Canaan Free Will Baptist Church and had accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. Paul loved his girls and he is remembered for his great storytelling and never having met a stranger.
Surviving is his wife, Shirley of 62 years; his daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda K. and Jeff Hackworth of Wooster, Christine Morrison and Mike Riemen of Columbus, Teresa and Dana Jr. Flesher of Maplewood and Sherry and John Cindrich of Sandusky; 6 grandchildren and their spouses, Andrew and Mackenzie Hackworth, Austin and Brittney Hackworth, Chelsea and Cody Napier, Jessica Ogden and Gustavo Heredia, Morgan and Kyle Ackley and Cody and Grace Flesher and 7 great-grandchildren.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, infant Thomas, Clyde Vernon and Donald and his sister, Jessie Jackson.
