Mary Lou Opliger, 74, of Fredericksburg passed away peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019 after a period of declining health.
Mary was born Jan. 6, 1945 in Morgantown, W.Va. to the late Wilbert and Flossie (Trader) Blaney and was a 1962 graduate of Smithville High School. On Sept. 9, 1963 she married Arthur Opliger and he survives. Mary had worked at Apple Creek State Hospital, Nadelin’s Restaurant, Rexroth and with her husband on the family farm near Fredericksburg. She was a member Mount Hope United Methodist Church and had volunteered at the Fredericksburg Library. Mary enjoyed crocheting, reading and most of all, spending time with her family.
Surviving are her husband, Art; children, Deanna (Randy) Smith of Fredericksburg, Greg (Mary) Opliger of Fredericksburg, Jody (Jerry Milne) Pinkstaff of Glennie, MI, Chris (Jan) Opliger of Fredericksburg, Tim (Amber) Opliger of Smithville and Mike Opliger of the home; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren a brother, Butch Blaney of Wilmot and a sister, Delores Blaney of Wooster.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, George Blaney.
Services will be Wednesday, Aug. 28th at 11:00 a.m. at Fredericksburg Presbyterian Church with Pastor Jack McClelland officiating. Burial will be in Fredericksburg East Cemetery.
