Martha Jane Svoboda, 91 of Wayne, NE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 25, 2021 in Wooster, Ohio after a period of declining health.
Martha was born in Wooster, OH on Feb. 21, 1930 to the late Oliver Perry and Martha Helen (Wolfe) Frary. She graduated from Creston High School and attended Mount Union College in Alliance, OH. Martha graduated from the Oberlin School of Theology and served as the Director of Christian Education for Methodist Churches from 1952 – 1965 having served in Lockport, NY, Salem, OH, Des Moines, IA and Marshalltown, IA. On Dec. 30, 1965 she married Albin Amos Svoboda and together they lived on a farm near Emerson, NE. Albin preceded her in death in November 1982 and in 1987 she moved to Wayne, NE. She was a member of the John Huss Presbyterian Church in Thurston, NE, the Wayne Women’s Club and the Neighborhood-Nite-N-Gals Extension Club.
Surviving are her sister and brother-in-law, Ora and John Rugani of Wooster, OH; 3 nieces, a nephew and an adopted son, Bryan Charles Reuss of North Platte, NE.
A memorial service will be held in Nebraska in late April. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery at Emerson, NE. Memorial contributions may be made to Hillcrest Family Services, 2005 Asbury Rd., Dubuque, IA 52001.
