Marilyn "Rose" Booth Shepherd passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2023 at Burbank Parke Care Center.
Rose was born January 26, 1928 at home in Golden Corners, Wayne County, Ohio to parents Violet (LeMaster) and Henry Booth. She grew up on the farm on Cemetery Road in Burbank and belonged to Burbank Methodist Church. She attended Burbank School, where she was Valedictorian of her 1945 class. She lived in Burbank the majority of her life with her husband, Ray Shepherd, and raised five children while working at Westfield Insurance Co. She retired from Western Reserve Insurance in 1989 to babysit her grandsons. Rose never met anyone she didn't like and always had kind words for everyone. She took care of her Mom for many years, and helped raise many of her grandchildren. She loved her family most of all.
She liked to read, play cards and cook.
She is survived by her five children, Susan Shepherd of Tucson, AZ, Julie (Dick) Dawson of Creston, Terry Shepherd of Lodi, Laura (Scott) McConahay of Lodi, and Larry (the late Catherine) Shepherd of Wooster; grandchildren Jason (Kallie) Frederick, Courtney (fiancé’ Stacy Lakosky), Margaret Ramirez Paul (Janet) Dawson, John (Carey) Dawson, Kellie Shepherd, Nicole Shepherd, Mitch (Teja) McConahay and Mike (Marcie) McConahay; 22 great-grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren, as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1976, her brother John in 2008, and special cousin Margaret Tedrow.
Services will be Saturday, Sept. 23rd at 2:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with burial following in Burbank Cemetery. Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
