Linda L. Boring Yoder, of Holmesville, passed away on Friday, Oct. 20, 2023 at Wooster Community Hospital from digoxin toxicity. She was surrounded by her nieces and nephews.
Linda was born on June 9, 1940 in Fredericksburg to Lewis “Fuzz” and Margaret (Shrimplin) Boring. She graduated from Waynedale High School in 1958 and attended Kent State University. Linda enlisted in the United State Navy in 1960 and was honorably discharged. On Dec. 7, 1973 she married Albert Yoder and Bert preceded her in death on March 1, 2000. Linda and Bert lived in the Youngstown area where she owned and operated Yoder’s Carpet Cleaning Service and was a member and past president of the American Business Women’s Assoc. Following Bert’s death, she moved back to Holmes County where she provided guided tours for Backroad Country Tours, a job that she absolutely loved. She also made many new friends while driving around the countryside hauling Amish and she knew every road number in the county. Linda was a member of the Holmes County Historical Society and the Holmesville American Legion Auxiliary.
She is survived by a brother, Jim Boring of Newark; sisters, Georgianna (Roger) Cool of Millersburg and Mary Beth (Mike) Golemo of Ames, IA; an uncle, Robert (Ruth) Shrimplin of Richmond, VA; nieces and nephews, Kimberly (Kenny) Jacobs and Tammy (Ed) Haudenschild both of Holmesville, Pam (Scott) Akins of Millersburg, Lisa (Louie) Stanley and Pat (Guy) Poling both of Fredericksburg, Rita VanSickle of Big Prairie, Melissa (Matt) Sterns and Molly (Aaron) Jensen of Omaha, NE; nephews, Rick Smith of Holmesville, Randy Boring of North Canton, Roger (Steph) Boring of Millersburg and Mac (Kaylee) Golemo of Cedar Rapids, IA. Linda had many great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews that she dearly loved and would attend any function they were a part of if she could.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert, her parents, her sister and brother-in-law, Jeanne and Dean Smith and a nephew, Bob Boring.
Services will be Thursday, Oct. 26th at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg where friends may call from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Fredericksburg East Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
