Larry Russell Howell, Sr., 86, of Rittman, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, May 20, 2021.
Larry was born in Rittman on March 31, 1935 to the late Russell and Vera (Kohler) Howell and was a 1953 graduate of Rittman High School. On April 8, 1956 he married Iona E. Baker and they celebrated 65 years of marriage this year. He started working at a young age, with his father, building homes and later continued building homes on his own. Larry operated Ellner Enterprises, an advertising specialties company in Rittman, since 2000. He attended Crossroads Assembly of God in Creston and over the years enjoyed flying, traveling, woodworking, making furniture and bowling.
Surviving are his wife, Iona; his children, Larry R. “Rusty” Howell, Jr. of New Philadelphia, Randy Howell of Mentor, Denny Howell of Rittman and Heather E. Howell of Shreve; 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers, Dwaine Howell of Thornville, Neal (Glenda) Howell of Seville and Jim (Peggy) Howell of Burbank and a sister-in-law, Mamie Howell of Norton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jerald.
Services will be held Tuesday, May 25th at 11:00 a.m. at Crossroad Assembly of God in Creston with Pastors Roger Larrison and Mike Boggs officiating. Burial will be in Creston Maple Mound Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 5-7 p.m. at the church.
