Juleene Cutright Tope, 98, peacefully died at her home in Fredericksburg, OH on February 21, 2024 at 2:00 pm.

She was born on December 13, 1925 to Dr. Clifford Reginald Cutright (1893-1966) and Dr. Eva Moya Goddin Cutright (1894-1989) in Wooster, OH. She married Paul Calvin Tope on December 27, 1948 in Wooster, OH. They lived a beautiful life atop the hill in Fredericksburg, OH, raising three children, fostering others throughout the years, tending to goats, and managing the  Orchard Farm duties while both pursued their professional careers. Paul preceded her in death due to a farm accident in 2006.

Her life was filled with hard work, hobby pleasures, love from family and friends, but most of all in years of education and mentoring those who would sit awhile to learn. She had wit, grit, and enjoyed life to its fullest.

Juleene attended Beall Avenue Elementary School from first grade(1931) through to her graduation from Wooster High School (1943) in Wooster, OH. She attended Converse College, Spartansburg, SC to attain her Bachelor of Science degree. She continued her education by enrolling in the graduate program leading to the Master of Nursing degree at the Frances Payne Bolton School of Nursing of Western Reserve University.

Juleene was a dedicated public health nurse with the Portage County Health Department, Wayne County Health Department, and the Wooster Community Hospital. Under the supervision of  Dr. Viola Startzman at the College of Wooster Hygeia Hall Infirmary. She was among many pioneering Certified Nurse Practitioners for Planned Parenthood through the Mansfield and Wooster agencies. She served as a traveling nurse administering physicals for men and women through their insurance companies.

Her love for education and various hobbies kept her continually engaged. She was an avid gardener spending time in her greenhouse with many new seed hybrids and heirloom choices.  She enjoyed painting, playing guitar, reading and supporting the Fredericksburg Community  Library, traveling to see her brother Phillips in NC and her Cousin Dick Goddin in Elkins, WV.  She enjoyed sitting on her front porch enjoying her toast and coffee for breakfast and chatting with friends and family. She was a member of the Wooster Investment Club, the Fiber Arts Guild of Wayne County. The Sheep-to-Shawl group which conducted demonstrations at the Wayne County Fairgrounds and at Malabar Farms.

Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, Holt J. Cutright, Phillips Cutright, and sister-in-law Karen Bowles Cutright.

Surviving her death are three children: Laurel A. Tope, John C. (Vanessa) Tope, and Andrew  P. (Debra) Tope. Five grandchildren: Katrina (Jeremiah) Hillman, Monica (Sean) Edie, Pasha (Sarada) Tope, Zane (Tracy) Tope, and Kristoffer (Diann) Tope: Eleven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
