Our Mom, Joyce Elaine Grabowski, was born on September 4th, 1940. She grew up in Wadsworth, Ohio and moved back later in life. She felt at home there. On October 26th, 2023, she left her life here and joyfully joined her family and friends gone before her. We know she is happier than she ever imagined. She is smiling down on us now and keeping a loving watch over all of us.
Mom lived a simple life. But, if you knew her, you know it was extraordinary! She brought four kids into the world, Becky, Mike, Andy, and Tony. Being with them, her heart soared and was full. Describing our family would probably not include the word chatty lol Just being there together in the same room, an arms length away is what Mom truly enjoyed. That was perfect. She knew great joy and love from the companionship she had with our very diverse extended feline side of the family too. Here kitty kitty! She loved watching all the birds come for dinner, seeds flying every which way from her bird feeders. She loved all of our friends growing up, and they loved her. A life long friend we grew up with said, “Your mom is a special lady and made growing up together truly special.” She will cherish that!
She conquered tremendous obstacles in her life, without tears, fear, or complaints. She was strong, stubborn, and fierce inside. She was this writer's Hero!
We all loved her cherry delight, which was world famous... in our world. Yum! Watching The Andy Griffith Show with her was just simple joy. Watching the Indians and Browns was another story! Who knew such loud bursts could come from someone so small. She loved going to Marie's with her kids for pizza and root beer floats! Brought out her big smile every time. She was Big on breakfast! Two eggs, bacon, hash browns, and toast. Mmm Mmm Loved it!
With her family, she enjoyed visiting the beach, Savannah and Tybee Island. Heading north to Frankenmuth, Mi, and the worlds largest Christmas store, Bronners. That place was bright! She wanted to see colonial Williamsburg. So, we packed up the fam and went. Watching her take in the sights brought so much happiness. She gave us so many wonderful memories! Mom, we are so grateful, happy, and proud that YOU are OUR Mom!!!
Holding her hand when she took her last breath was nothing about an ending. It was about a beginning, bursting forth from her cocoon here in this life that was transforming her for what comes next. She was wholly and completely beautiful! The perfect Joyce! the perfect Mom! Beginning this new life, she is filled with unbelievable joy and happiness. So much more than she had imagined! We love you Mom!!!
Mom never wanted any attention for herself, so she didn't want to have a viewing. She wants her family to spread her ashes all around the lake in Memorial Park in Wadsworth. We're sure she would love to have anyone that knew her, and thought she was special, to come remember and share the memories she gave us here, and be overjoyed for her and the life she has now. A date hasn't been decided on, but spring feels right. Look for a posting on our Facebook accounts in the new year.
