John Andrew Zelenka, Jr., 67, of Chippewa Lake, passed away on Wednesday, March 10, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer.
John was a very loving and caring father to his five children. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps having enlisted when he was only 17 ½ years old. John served as an Engineer Equipment Operator during the Vietnam War from 1970 – 1974 and he believed the motto, “Once a Marine, Always a Marine.”
John was a long time truck driver who loved his gardening, flowers, birds and his dog, Brandi. He was a giving, hardworking man who would help anyone in need.
John will be dearly missed by his wife, Janet of 17 years, his five children, John Paul Zelenka, Ryan Zelenka, Aaron (Kelsey) Zelenka , Corey Zelenka and Lauren Zelenka; brothers and sisters, Mike Zelenka, James (Bonita) Seitz, Tim Seitz, Steve (Heather) O’Donnell, Dave (Marcia) O’Donnell, Danny O’Donnell, Lisa (Raul) Rodriguez and Laurie (Rodney) O’Donnell and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Zelenka Sr. and Fay Wilson and a sister, Melody Wilham.
Friends will be received on Friday April 9th from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home, 173 S. Main St., Creston with Pastor Adam Allen conducting services at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com
