Joel Edward Lance, 65, of Wooster, passed away Sunday, Feb. 9, 2020 at the Cleveland Clinic after a courageous but brief battle with cancer.
Joel was born Sept. 11, 1954 in Wadsworth to the late John and Eleanor (Woods) Lance and was a 1972 graduate of Norwayne High School. On May 11, 1974 he married the love of his life, Jaqueline “Jackie” Jones and she survives. Joel retired in 2016 from Jacobson Manufacturing in Medina after 25 years of service and was a member of the Creston Moose Lodge 1224 and the Sterling K of P Lodge. His life was full of fun and adventure and over the years Joel enjoyed playing softball for Hanzie Meats and for several other teams, bowling and golfing with his many friends. A Cleveland Sports fan, he loved the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Butler parties. He enjoyed going to the dog races, trips to Florida and to the beach but his greatest memories are those times spent with his family and spoiling his grandkids.
Surviving are his wife, Jackie; his sons and daughters-in-law, Josh and Kim Lance of Burbank and Jared and Leslie Lance of Rittman; his grandkids, Payton, Kendra and Morgan; sister, Judy and Larry Uhler of Sterling; brother, Greg and Pat Lance of Burbank; sister-in-law, Trish Lance of Florida and nieces, nephews and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Roger.
Services will be Thursday, Feb. 13th at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with burial following at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
