Joe Jay Yoder, 61, of 7409 County Road 189, Fredericksburg, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 after an accident at his home.
He was born in May 3, 1959 in Geauga County to the late Joe Jay and Elizabeth (Hostetler) Yoder and married Betty E. Hershberger on July 12, 1979. He was a member of the Old Order Amish and was ordained Minister in 1997 and then Bishop in 2015.
Surviving are his wife, Betty; children, Aden Ray (Nancy, deceased) Yoder of West Farmington, OH, Emanuel (Martha) Yoder of Garrettsville, OH, Sara Ann (Andy) Fisher of Munfordville, KY, Elvesta (Robert) Yoder of Burton, OH, Margaret (Aaron John) Miller, of Brinkhaven, OH, Joe Alan (Maria) Yoder of Bristolville, OH, Nathan (LuAnne) Yoder of Columbia, KY, Sue Etta (Benny) Schmucker of Wilmot, OH and Marcus Yoder of the home; 21 grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Emma (Jonas) Miller of Bristolville, OH, Betty (Jonas) Hershberger of Middlefield, OH, Phineas (Katie Mae) Yoder of Southington, OH, Melvin (Esther) Yoder of Middlefield, OH and Martha (Sam) Hostetler of East Rochester, OH; sisters-in-law, Nancy Yoder of Middlefield, OH and Rachel Yoder of Burton, OH.
He was preceded in death by daughter-in-law, Nancy, his parents and brothers, Andy and David Yoder.
Services will be Friday, March 12th at 9:00 a.m. at the Mark Weaver residence 7626 Township Road 568, Holmesville with Minister David E. Hershberger officiating. Burial will be in the Hershberger Cemetery, Prairie Township. Friends may call anytime at the Weaver Residence. Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg is handling arrangements.
