Jill Parrot Obituary

Jill M. Parrot, 89, wife of Rollin Parrot, peacefully passed away with family by her side on Thursday, July 16, 2020.

Jill was born in Benton, OH on April 28, 1931 to Marion and R.T. Menuez and was one of eleven children.  She graduated from Holmesville High School, and on July 20, 1952 she married Rollin Parrot. They would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary on Monday, July 20th. Jill loved to fill our lives with happiness, dancing at family weddings, going on family hikes in the woods, and having summer picnics on the family farm that she and her husband established in 1961.  She was a homemaker, friend to many, and generous to all whom she met.  In retirement, she and Rollin traveled throughout the United States and Europe and enjoyed spending winters in their Florida home.  Jill was a former Sunday School teacher at Benton Lutheran Church, a member of the Women’s Missionary Society and the Stepping Stones Mother’s Club. Jill was also a member of the Salty Salts Lakeside Ladies Club.

She is survived by her husband, Rollin; children, Fred Parrot, Joy Hendrix, Rosanne (Robert) Rinfret, Arthur (Susie) Parrot, Anita (David) Rohr and the late Pamela; 16 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren will miss all the ways she made each one feel special and loved.  Jill’s surviving brothers and sisters are Gene Menuez, John (Shirley) Menuez, J. Mark (Rozella) Menuez, Joel (Robyn) Menuez, Judson (Glennis) Menuez, JoAnn Mast, Judith Mast and Janie (Stan) Hochstetler; a sister-in-law, Lois Menuez, a brother-in-law, Bob Schreifels and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her daughter Pam, her parents, brother James Menuez and sister Jacqueline Schreifels.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, July 21st at 11:00 a.m. at Fredericksburg East Cemetery with Pastor Jeff Scott of Faith Lutheran Church in Millersburg officiating.  Those family members wishing to pay their respects to Jill may do so on Tuesday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg.  Social distancing will be observed for the services; masks are mandatory.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Lutheran Church, 187 S. Clay St., Millersburg, OH 44654 or to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.  The family of Jill Parrot extends their gratitude to the doctors and staff at Pomerene Hospital, especially Dr. Summerfield and to the staff of Lifecare Hospice for the compassion and care.
