Jeffrey Reed Obituary

Jeffrey Lynn Reed, 67, of Fredericksburg, unexpectedly left us on January 20, 2022 while at the Cleveland Clinic and went home to be with his Lord and Savior.

Jeff was born on December 7, 1954 in Marysville, OH and was the son of the late Benjamin and Edith Mae (Gibson) Reed.  He graduated in 1973 from Jonathan Alder High School in Plain City, OH, where he was raised.  On December 22, 1973 he married Bethany Ann Bricker, who survives.  His first job was at a John Deere Equipment dealer in Plain City, followed by driving semi-trucks for Crilow Transport, Berlin Transportation, and Consolidated Freight, where he drove for 13 years with a spotless record. His CB  handle was the “Double Nickle” because he never went over the speed limit.  He left trucking when team driving was initiated because he didn’t trust riding in a vehicle when someone else was driving.  For his entire life, whenever he was in any vehicle, Jeff was the driver.  The remainder of his working life was spent with the local businesses of Ivan Weaver Construction, Diesel Energy, which became Superior Diesel, and Cabinet Specialties.  Jeff also enjoyed the past  few years helping at Murray Funeral Home, and, in 2010, he and Beth started Holmes Crafted Furniture, which they still operate.  Jeff never took up any hobbies, but in his work and personal life, he always said he had two passions,  people and driving.  His heart for God “drove” his love and care for his family and friends.

Jeff was a member of Fredericksburg Presbyterian Church, and he was a former member of Grace Church in Wooster, where he built many friendships with members of his adult bible fellowship class. He enjoyed watching Ohio State football and valued the time he spent with his family and friends.

Surviving is his wife and best friend of 48 years Beth; his sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren: Dusty and Danica Reed of North Ridgeville and their sons Ethan and Aidan; Kirby and Jenny Reed of Fredericksburg and their children Tyler, Allison, Ben, and Miranda; brothers Chuck and his wife Christine Reed of Plain City, Willard Reed of Dalmatia, PA, Rick and his wife Nancy Reed of St. Petersburg, FL, and Randy Reed of the Philippines; a brother-in-law David Quigley of Wilmington, OH, and myriad nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Janet Reed Quigley, brother Jim Reed, his wife Diane, and their daughter Jennifer Hill, Willard Reed’s son Christopher, and brother Robin Reed.

A celebration of Jeff’s life will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 25th at 11:00 a.m. at Fredericksburg Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jesse McDonald and Charlie Gibson officiating. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m.  at Fredericksburg East Cemetery. Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com Memorial contributions may be made to the Waynedale Athletic Booster Club, 9050 Dover Road, Apple Creek, OH 44606.
