Janet D. (Glessner) Anshutz

Janet D. Anshutz, 92, of Sterling, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023 while surrounded by loved ones after a brief illness.

Janet was born in Sterling on Jan. 4, 1931 and was the youngest of Clement and Vida (Sample) Glessner’s ten children. She graduated from Sterling High School in 1948 and on July 8, 1950 married Robert E. Anshutz who preceded her in death on April 29, 1985.  Janet enjoyed being a homemaker and was a wonderful cook and baker and she is remembered for all the baking she did for the Sterling Fire Dept.  She enjoyed flowers, watching the birds and playing Euchre and she loved planning  and hosting the Glessner Reunions which were always fun and enjoyable.  Janet was a member of the Sterling United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her children and their spouses, Karen and Dave Nelson of Villa Park, IL, Barry and Debbie Anshutz of Sterling, Lori and Brian Giere of Arbor Vitae, WI and Craig and Carolyn Anshutz of Nashville, TN; 6 grandchildren and their spouses, Dan and Trisha Nelson, Laura and Dave Oakleaf, Ashley and Mike Tetzel, Adam and Ashley Wallace, Amara Anshutz and Ross and Lynita Albright; 8 great-grandchildren, Andrew and Ryan Nelson, Caitlin and Colin Oakleaf, Thaddeus, Theo and Trenton Albright and Weston Wallace and many nieces and nephews.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband and sisters and brothers, Bessie Kerstetter, Helen Kerstetter, Dale, Alton, Harry, Paul and Donald Glessner, Ruth Hoosier and June Steele.

Services will be Saturday, May 20th at 12:00 noon at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with burial following in Creston Maple Mound Cemetery.  Friends may call Friday from 5-7 p.m. at one hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691 or to Sterling Fire Dept. 13845 Kauffman Ave., Sterling, OH 44276.
