James Richard Miller, 80, of Wooster, went home to Heaven on Thursday, Jan. 7, 2021 at Akron City Hospital after a period of declining health.
Jim was born July 25, 1940 in Marietta to the late Paul Richard and Florence Marie (Stryker) Miller and was a 1959 graduate of Shreve High School. For the past 38 years he shared his life with the former Mary A. (Hershberger) Schmucker and they were married on July 19, 1997. He retired from Wooster Iron and Metal and was a member of the Highland Church of God. Jim enjoyed fishing, car racing, collecting model classic cars, bluegrass and country music and feeding the birds. He will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his loving wife, Mary Miller; children, Steve (Judy) Miller, Jerry (Jeannette) Miller and June Johnson all of Wooster, Donny (Katherine) Schmucker of Burbank and Dorothy (David) Sorrells of Wooster; a daughter-in-law, Jennifer Miller of Wooster; 14 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren a brother, Bill (Judy) Miller of Wooster; a sister Jean (Dean) Boley of Shreve and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Tom Miller; two grandchildren, his parents and a sister, Dorothy (Ray) Varnes.
Services will be Sunday, Jan. 10th at 2:00 p.m. at Murray funeral Home in Fredericksburg where friends may call from 12:00 noon until time of services. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the family requests that everyone wear a mask. Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
