James Eugene Ewers, 81, of Creston, went peacefully home on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2020 at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster after a period of declining health.
Jim was born Nov. 19, 1938 in Washington County, OH to the late Eugene and Thelma (Stacy) Ewers. He married the former Phyllis Reischman on April 28, 1956 and she preceded him in death on Dec. 23, 1993. He then married Eva Hoisington Klepper on Dec. 29, 1995 and she survives. Jim retired from the Packaging Corp. of America in Rittman in 2000 after 43 years of service and then worked at Hawks Nest Golf Course for 13 years. He attended Canaan Free Will Baptist Church and was lifetime member of the Wadsworth Eagles. Jim enjoyed deer hunting and is remembered for being a dedicated and hard working man.
Surviving are his wife, Eva; his children, Michael (Mary) Ewers of Magnolia, TX and Deloris (Jeff Miller) Ewers of Wooster; his step-sons, Gary (Wendy) Klepper of Wooster and Chris (Melanie) Klepper of Creston; 8 grandchildren, Matthew and Bandon Ewers, Terena Watts, Tasha Douglas, Dana and Sara Baught and Hayden and Lyric Klepper; 9 great-grandchildren and his sisters, Ellen (Ray) Ebert of New Martinsville, WV and Evelyn (Ted) Potts of Sardis.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, his parents and a brother, Roger Ewers.
Services will be Monday, Sept. 21st at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Mike Gladson officiating. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
