Imogene Carpenter Obituary

 

Imogene A. Carpenter, 90, of Marshallville, died Saturday, Feb. 6, 20201 at her residence following an extended illness.

She was born Sept. 24, 1930 in Hallsburg, WV to Nathan Curtis (Curt) and Lillie (Boggs) Mollohan.  She was united in marriage to Lawrence E. Carpenter on Oct. 2, 1947 in Ivydale, WV.  He preceded her in death on Oct. 6, 2002.  She had worked for several years as the custodian at Marshallville Elementary School and was a long time member of Eastern Road Church of God in Rittman. Imogene enjoyed quilting, sewing, reading and flower and vegetable gardening.

She is survived by daughters, Diana Schieber of Akron and Annette (Mike) Lankford of Louisville, KY; sons, Harold of Sun City Center, FL, Kenneth of Martinsburg, WV, Vern (Judy) of Orrville, Norman (Cathy) of Orrville and Jennings (Connie) of Marshallville; grandchildren, Stephanie Moses, Clark (Aly) Lankford, Angie (Joe) Tenne, Jennifer (Moe) Abu-el-Hawa, Whitney (Josh) Spurlock, Lindsay (Stephen) Goble, Mallory (Mike) Byrnes, Adrienne (Jeremy) Flanders, Taylor (Chris) Purdy, Scott, Aaron (Erin), Molly, Seth (Lisa), Joey, Brett (Mary) and Beau Carpenter; great-grandchildren, Stephen and John Lankford, Scotty Good, Lina and Samir Abu-el-Hawa, Grayden and Tyson Spurlock, Kingston, Bronx and Roman Goble, Hudson, Anniston, Lincoln and Kenley Flanders, Beckham and Vivienne Purdy, Griffin, Nora, Clara, Daniel, Thomas and Addie Carpenter.

In addition to her husband of 55 years, she was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and their spouses, Ivan (Elsie), Dennis (Hattie), Marvin (Maggie), Bud (Aimee), Jim (Emma Jean) and twin brother, Ira (Louise) Mollohan; 4 sisters and their spouses, Dorothy (Preston) McCracken, Marie (Gifford) Leach, Barbara (Bob) Hamilton and Eva (Guy) Fast; a son-in-law, Ron Schieber and a daughter-in-law, Chris Carpenter.

Private family services will be held at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Pastor Eric Fairhurst officiating.   Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.  Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com  Memorial contributions may be made to LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.  The family would like to thank her caregivers, Paula Hinerman and Brittany Ballard for their in-home care as well as the staff of LifeCare Hospice.
