Herbert S. Werstler, 74, passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021.
Herb was born in Canton on Feb. 11, 1947 and was the son of the late Herbert and Pearl (Stellar) Werstler. He was a 1965 graduate of Norwayne High School and served in the Ohio National Guard. Growing up on a farm in Creston, he purchased his farm on Friendsville Road in 1968 and has been dedicated and committed to the land. He retired from Baker Sand and Gravel in 2012 after 32 years of service and was elected and had served as a Canaan Township Trustee. Herb was a member of Canaan Lutheran Church where he had served as a Deacon and Trustee, the Wayne County Agricultural Society, the Wayne County Farm Bureau and Red Power. He enjoyed traveling to many NASCAR races, trips to Arizona and wintering in Florida with special friends Don and Glenda Frase. Herb’s best memories were made on the farm with his faith, his family and friends and with his Farmall.
Surviving are his wife, Janet (Hess) Werstler; his children and their spouses, Michael and Melinda Werstler of Wooster and Melissa and Matthew Rupp of Creston; grandchildren, Abigail Werstler, Allaina Werstler, Madicyn Rupp and Mason Rupp; sisters, Mary and Roger Gwin of Shreve and Carol and Ron Mole of Grafton and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Rebecca Leatherman.
