Harley James Snider, 90, of Wooster passed away on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2019 at the Avenue at Wooster after a period of declining health.
Harley was born Sept. 9, 1929 in East Liverpool to the late Charles Henry and Myrtle Mae (Sivard) Snider and was a 1947 graduate of Chatham High School. He serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 – 1953. On Sept. 9, 1956 he married the former Carol A. Speelman in Fredericksburg and she survives. He retired from the Wooster Brush Co. in 1992 after 15 years of service and had previously drove truck for B&F Transfer and IML Freight. Harley served as the Scout Master for Troup 69 in Apple Creek from 1959 – 1977 and was a member of Apple Creek United Methodist Church. Over the years, he enjoyed camping, fishing and hiking in the Smokey Mountains.
Surviving are his wife, Carol; children and their spouses, Timothy and Kim Snider and David and Deborah Snider both of Wooster and Mary and Jeff Ritz of Willard; 4 grandchildren, Corie and her husband Mike Wolley, Krista Snider, Daniel and his wife Kristen Snider and Darrin Snider; a great-grandchild, Reagan Marie Wolley and a soon to be expected great-grandchild and a sister, Grace Rabjohn of New Braunfels, TX.
He was preceded in death by a brother, David and sisters, Floris Jones, Bertha Etta Snider, Jean Kelly and Linda Wright.
Services will be Monday, Nov. 25th at 1:00 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg where friends will be received from 12:00 noon until time of services. Burial will be in Fryburg Cemetery.
