Gary Lee Cool, 77, of Burbank, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023 at the Cleveland Clinic after a 30 year battle with Renal Cell Carcinoma.
Gary was born in Guardian, WV to the late Elmer and Edna (Cogar) Cool. Gary served as a medic in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1966 -1969. He married Mary Ellen Clevenger on April 26, 1969. They made their home in Medina prior to moving to Burbank in 1993. Gary worked at Bliss & Laughlin Steel for 31 years and later drove truck for several companies, but retired from AmeriGas in Lodi, OH. Once retired, he spent his time attending his granddaughter’s soccer games and other sporting events, mowing his lawn and tinkering around his home. He enjoyed taking drives, hunting, fishing, and being outdoors with his dog and cats, however, his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family. Gary attended the Burbank Community Faith Church.
Surviving is his wife, Mary Ellen, of 54 years, daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Daniel TeKempel, formerly of Smithville; granddaughter, Sydney TeKempel, of Dallas, TX; sister, Dana DeHart, of Maryland and nephews, Harry (Maureen) DeHart and Michael (Tina) Dehart.
Murray’s Funeral Home in Creston will hold calling hours Friday, Oct. 6th from 5-7 pm and Saturday, Oct. 7th from 12-1 pm with services following at 1pm. Pastor Frank Hudson will be officiating. Burial will be in Burbank Cemetery.
