Fredrick Paul Coblentz, 83, of Wadsworth, passed away on Monday, Aug. 21, 2023 at Autumnwood Care Center in Rittman after a period of declining health.
Fred was born on Jan. 1, 1940 in Wooster to Raymond M. and Aldene (Fordyce) Coblentz and graduated from Wooster High School in 1957. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1957 – 1960 and on Dec. 10, 1961 he married Edilene M. Kahrig. Fred retired from Yost Tire and had previously worked for Smetzer Tire. His passion was flying airplanes and he had rebuilt many planes over the years. He was a co-founder of EAA Chapter 846 in Wadsworth. Fred has flown many children for the Young Eagles Program with the EAA chapter. Fred was a member of the Sharon Center United Methodist Church, Medina County Car Cruisers and was a former member of the Medina Eagles. In later years he enjoyed playing marbles and corn hole and going out to eat with his buddies.
He is survived by his wife, Edilene; daughters and sons-in-law, Rhonda Lynn and Dean Yoder and Janet Sue and Gregory Markus of Medina; 4 grandchildren and their spouses, Joseph and Katherine Campbell, Lisa and Alex Marshall, Shawn and Ashley Knotek and Justin Yoder; 5 great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Lincoln, Tyrael, Annika, Jenna; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond Coblentz of Wooster, Jeffrey and Vikki Coblentz of Wooster and Willie and Sharon Coblentz of Millersburg.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a step-mother and a sister, Dorothy Brinkerhoff.
Memorial Services will be Thursday, Aug. 31st at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with burial following at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.
