Eugene Fetzer Obituary

 

Eugene E. “Gene” Fetzer, 83, of Creston, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2021.

Gene was born on Nov. 30, 1937 to the late Elton and Erma (Mowrer) Fetzer and was a life resident of Canaan Township.   He was a graduate of Norwayne High School and in June, 1959 he married the former Bonnie K. McCluggage who survives.  He was a plumber most of his life and was later a Wayne County Plumbing Inspector.  In 1999 he was given an “achievement award” for being the only plumber in the history of the City of Wooster to install, inspect and pass his own work and then call The Inspector.   Gene had coached youth baseball in Creston and he always enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving are his wife, Bonnie; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Steve Mairs; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Mary Fetzer; grandchildren and spouses, Trevor Fetzer, Blake and Katie Fetzer, Brittany and Brandon Yoder, Rick and Melissa Mairs and Heather and Jeremy Kokinda; 9 great-grandchildren; a sister, Ellen Koch; brothers, Jim Fetzer and Ron and his wife, Chris Fetzer and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Richard and in-law, Wayne Koch and Betty Fetzer.
