Doy Cogar Obituary

 

Doy Edward Cogar, 85, of Dalton and formerly of Creston, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2022 at Aultman Hospital in Canton.

Doy was born in Centralia, WV on May 30, 1936 and was the son of the late Orval and Madline (Williams) Cogar.  He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-1958 and on Feb. 16, 1959 he married Hazel J. Knight who preceded him in death on Sept. 7, 2009.  Doy had worked as a truck driver and a welder and had attended the Triangle Baptist Church in Chippewa Lake. 

Surviving are his children, J. Christine Cogar of Kentucky, Kenneth and Amy Cogar of Litchfield, Dale and Robin Cogar of Cleveland and Mitchell and Jenny Cogar of Mallet Creek; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sisters, Emma Watson, Anna Palazzo, Cora Queen, Linda Springston and Kathy Shirley; and a brothers, Eugene Cogar and Alonzo Cogar. 

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; sisters, Eileen Ferrell and brothers, Clifford and Leon Cogar.

Military honors and services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 27th at 11:15 a.m. at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.  Procession will form at Murray Funeral Home in Creston at 10:45 a.m.
