Doreen L. Stellar

Doreen L. Stellar, 93, of Creston, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 7, 2023 after a lengthy illness.

Doreen was born on March 13, 1930 in Elyria to Phillip and Mabel (Coburn) Line and graduated from North Ridgeville High School in 1948 where she was a cheerleader.  That same year she married Chester F. Stellar on Sept. 11, 1948 and he preceded her in death on June 5, 2001.  Over the years she worked for Allen Farms in Creston, at Nadelin’s Restaurant in Wooster, served as the Canaan Township Clerk and at Eagle Rubber Co. which was later Hedstrom Plastics in Ashland as well as being a homemaker and farm wife.  Doreen had been active in the Kiddie Chat Mothers Club in Creston, Norwayne Band and Athletic Boosters, the Creston United Methodist Church and the Creston American Legion Auxiliary.  She enjoyed the many Legion Activities and Conventions that she and Chet traveled to all over the U.S.  At home she enjoyed gardening and her grandchildren.

Surviving are her children and their spouses, Wendy York of Murrells Inlet, SC,  Fred and Cindy Stellar of Jacksonville, FL, Frank and Trudy Stellar of Springfield, VA, Doreen and Bob Bercaw of Wooster and Paul and Jan Stellar of Creston; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester, her parents, brothers, Albert, Robert and Phillip and a sister, Florence Morris.

Private services will be held at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Rev. Carl Dulin officiating.  Burial will be in Jackson Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
