Donald E. Shaum, 92, of Burbank, passed away on Friday, Sept. 1, 2023 at Wooster Community Hospital after a sudden illness.
Don was born on April 28, 1931 in Burbank to Orland and Bernice (Howard) Shaum and was a 1949 graduate of Burbank High School. On Aug. 25, 1950 he married Janet Shrimplin and they shared 73 years together. He retired from Local 94 Plumbers and Pipe Fitters in Canton after 67 years and had made his home near Burbank all of his life. He was a member of the Wooster Eagles and a lifetime member of the NRA. Don loved to hunt and fish as well as planting a large garden and mushroom hunting. He also enjoyed playing golf.
Surviving is his wife, Janet; his three children and spouses, Don and Barb Shaum and grandchildren, Christopher (Jody) and Allison, Rocky and Candy Shaum and grandchildren, Carrie (Robert) and Matt (Shannon) and Jolen Shaum and grandson, Randall (Jaimie), his beloved, Ella Bella as well as 10 great-grandchildren and 5 great great-grandchildren with one on the way. He is also survived by brothers and a sister, Ray (Esther) Shaum, Ken (Sandy) Shaum and Lou Repp.
He was preceded in death by a son, Randy, his parents and a brother, Richard Shaum.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, Sept. 8th at 11:30 a.m. at Burbank Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Murray Funeral Home in Creston is handling arrangements. The family extends their deepest appreciation to Lou, Joanne and Claudia for all their meals on wheels that they provided.
