Dan J.J. Schlabach, 88, of 9231 Township Road 609, Fredericksburg, died Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at his home from an injury due to a fall.
He was born on Dec. 15, 1933 at Millersburg to the late Jacob and Ada (Wengard) Schlabach and married Mattie J. Yoder on Dec. 19, 1963. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Old Order Amish. He was ordained minister in 1972 and later Bishop in 1991.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Mattie of 58 years, 9 children, Anna (Mahlon) Miller of Millersburg, Ada (Ervin ) Miller of Apple Creek, Lizzie Ann (Perry) Yoder of the home, Esther (Mose) Weaver of Fredericksburg, Monroe (Mary Ann) Schlabach of Fredericksburg, William (Elsie) Schlabach of Fredericksburg, Clara (Raymond) Schlabach of Apple Creek, Edna (Atlee) Mast of Fredericksburg and Eli (Iva) Schlabach of Millersburg; 75 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, a brother, Joe (the late Irene) Schlabach of Apple Creek and a sister, Edna (Monroe) Chupp of Fredericksburg. He was preceded in death by a son, Joe, a daughter, Erma, a grandson and two sisters, Betty Troyer and infant Mary.
Services will be Friday, April 8th at 9:30 a.m. at the residence with Minister Roy Swartzentruber officiating. Burial will be in the Hershberger Cemetery, Salt Creek Township. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg is handling arrangements.
