Clara Mabel Zimmerman, 103, of Smithville, passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021 after a brief illness.
Clara was born on April 29, 1918 in Creston to the late Samuel A. and Olive E. (Hinman) Sayre and was a 1936 graduate of Smithville High School. In 1936 she married Glen T. Strader and he was killed in action during WW II in 1944. In 1950 she married Harry W. Conrad and he preceded her in death in 1968. Clara later married Earl E. Zimmerman and he preceded her in death in 1984. Over the years, Clara worked at the Ohio Box Board, helped operate the Cut-Rite Store with Harry in Smithville and worked at Wayne General and Dunlap Hospitals. A life member of the Smithville United Methodist Church, she enjoyed playing Euchre at the church, embroidering and was an excellent cook. She always enjoyed family activities and her family will remember her for being a wonderful mother and grandmother.
Surviving are her daughters, Glenda DeCarlo and Bonnie Kaser both of Wooster; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 18 great great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, an infant son, Glen David Strader, a daughter, Patricia Blackwell, a great-granddaughter, brothers, Harold, Delbert and Ralph Sayre, a half-brother, Kyle Sayre and a half-sister, Grace Brant.
Services will be Monday, June 21st at 11:00 a.m. at Smithville United Methodist Church with Pastor Carolyn Berry officiating. Burial will be in Smithville Cemetery.
