Carol Crile Obituary

Carol Ann (Kandel) Crile, 81 of Fredericksburg, OH  passed away to her heavenly home on Wednesday, September 28 after an
extended illness.
Carol was born in her home in Pekin, Ohio and was the eldest daughter of Lawrence and Mildred (Smith)
Kandel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and love of her life after
24 years of marriage, William Crile (September 23, 2003), her loving brother of Minerva, James Harold
Kandel Sr. and infant sister Gloria Grace Kandel.
Carol went to Minerva Grade School for five years and then transferred to Augusta grade school and
graduated from Augusta, Ohio High School in 1961. Carol had a passion for art and studied with Jean
Browne for nearly five years to practice and perfect her art and love of painting.
Carol worked and retired after 30 years of service as a beloved cafeteria worker in the Minerva and
Southeast elementary schools. Carol worked for Round Lake Christian Camp for 17 years where she met
the love of her life Bill and lived all of her married life in Wayne County. Upon both of their retirement
Carol and Bill transported the Amish for 30 years and had strong ties to their community.
Carol was a member of First Christian Church in Minerva, Ohio for 38 years and upon marrying Bill
transferred her membership to Fredericksburg Church of Christ when she was married June 30, 1979
and had been a faithful servant of the church for 43 years. Carol and Bill served as the church custodians
and Carol faithfully served the VBS and children’s programs and created cards, crafts for her church
family and nearly the entire community. Anyone that knew Carol knew she loved the Lord and spread
the light of Jesus through all of her thousands of cards she sent over her lifetime. Carol had a love of
cats, sewing, crafting, gardening, genealogy and helping others.
Carol is survived by her sister-in-law Carolyn K. Kandel of Minerva, Ohio, her nephews William
Nedoroscik (Teresa) of Cleveland, OH, James Harold Kandel, Jr (Samantha) of Johnstown and her nieces
Twila (Kandel) Strawder, Michele (Nedoroscik) Chadwell (Andrew) of Marysville, Ohio, Sandra (Kandel)
Unkefer (Kenneth) of Minerva, Ohio and her great nieces and nephews Drew & Michaela Chadwell and
Kay D and Jacob Unkefer as well as her loving cat Tabby.
Calling hours and her funeral service will be held at Fredericksburg Church of Christ on Wednesday, October 5, 2022 from 12:00 noon until time of services at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Josh Ware will officiate.  Burial will be in Fredericksburg East Cemetery.  Murray Funeral Home in Fredericksburg is handling arrangements.
