Bruce Alan Grossenbacher, 71, of Seville, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2021 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Bruce was born Sept. 19, 1949 in Wadsworth, OH to the late Glenn and Phyllis (Auker) Grossenbacher, and was a 1967 graduate of Cloverleaf High School. On April 14, 1973 he married the former Sandra Gill. A gifted mason and builder, he operated BSG Masonry Inc. for 35 years until he retired in 2014. There wasn’t a road that he traveled in the area that he didn’t point out and say, “hey, I did that foundation", etc. A life resident of Seville, he was always proud of his community and never wanted to live anywhere else. Bruce worked hard having built his own home and others for friends. He took great pride in caring for his garden, flowers, and yard. He was a faithful member of Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church where he served as a greeter, usher, and rang the bell to worship. He was a member of the former Seville Lions Club, the National Wild Turkey Federation, and a #1 Ohio State football fan. Bruce loved socializing at his favorite spots with friends, traveling with his son to turkey calling contests, and turkey hunting where he made many friends. He especially loved his time spent with his grandkids. He will be remembered for never having met a stranger, always carrying a smile, for his love of God, the Seville Community, his friends and his loving family.
Surviving are his wife, Sandy of 47 years that he lovingly cared for; his children and grandchildren, Joshua Grossenbacher and his wife, Abigail and their daughter, Claire of Medina, and Jillian Ashbrook and her husband James and their children, Abigail, Owen and Luke of Seville; his sisters, Kathy Shreiner of Austin, TX, Janice Murray and her husband Dave of Wadsworth and Debbie Dalton of Hickory, NC and many nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Phyllis, his step-father, Allen Gordon, and brothers Bruce and Jack Gordon.
Private family services will be held with Pastor Tina Heise-Crog officiating. There will be a celebration of Bruce’s life held later in the Spring. Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com . Memorial contributions may be made to Jerusalem Evangelical Lutheran Church, 9282 Acme Rd., Seville, OH 44273 or to the Seville Historical Society, P.O. Box 312, Seville, OH 44273.
