Brian was born in Oct. 21, 1957 to Elmer and Berdine (Knapp) Hilson of Creston and was a 1976 graduate of Norwayne High School. He retired from Ford Motor Company in 2007 where he had served as the International Union Representative. For the past 13 years Brian had been the ground maintenance man for Norwayne Local Schools. He had made his home in Creston and Sterling area all of his life and his life centered on his family, his community and Norwayne Schools. Brian was the JV Baseball Coach at Norwayne for the past 20 years, had been an umpire for many years and coached in the youth programs in Creston. He was a believer in teaching the fundamentals of baseball and was a great encourager. Brian had been active in AA and had carried on the family tradition of make the donuts for the Ox Roast in Creston. In 2005 he was honored as a Creston Citizen of the Year for his service to the Creston and Norwayne Community. Brian loved fishing on Lake Erie, riding his motorcycle and helping others. He will be greatly missed.
Brain is survived by his daughter, Shawna (Mike Pryor) Hilson of Sterling; his son, Brad (Deanna) Hilson of St. Augustine, FL; his 5 grandchildren, Brevin, Briauna and Brayden Hostetler and LaDaisha and Braylon Hilson; his fiancé’ Jennifer Sanford of Lorain; brothers and sister, Hal (Kathy) Hilson or North Canton, Darlyene (Willie Cross) Hilson of Mansfield, Regina (Tom) Wilson of Glenmont and Danny (Joan) Hilson of Columbus and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death his parents and an infant son, Michael Brett Hilson.
Services will be Thursday, Oct. 8th at 11:00 a.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston with Father Rich Samide officiating. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Friends may call Wednesday, Oct. 7th from 3-7 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston. Social distancing and practices are requested.
