Bill Bruce Buss

Bill Bruce Buss, 87, of Sterling, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2019 at Akron City Hospital from injuries received in an auto accident.

Bill was born March 14, 1932 in Green Township, Wayne Co. and was the son of the late Walter Sr. and Frances Mary (Zook) Buss.  He was a 1950 graduate of Sterling High School and served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 – 1955.  While in the service, he married the former Shirley Hickman on June 6, 1954 and she survives.  Bill was a lifelong carpenter and retired from  Arthur Graf Builders having previously worked for Ed Imhoff, Todd Welty and Ed Ramsier.  He was a member of Sterling United Methodist Church, the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Seville, Orrville American Legion Post 282 and Sterling K of P. Lodge.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing and always loved being with family.  He will be remembered for his faithful service to his Country, his family and to God.

Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Shirley; his children and their spouses, Kevin and Joyce Buss of Wooster, Bruce and Jolene Buss of Smithville, Garry Buss of Long Beach, CA, Sheri Boals of Wooster and Paula and Travis McFadden of Wooster; 9 grandchildren, Jamie Buss, Shawna Smithberger, Taylor Buss, Kramer Buss, Morgan Buss, Kayla Duncan, Hannah Lester, Kelsie McFadden and Savannah McFadden; great-grandchildren, Braylon, Layla and Ava Smithberger and Julia Buss and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Tim Boals, his parents and brothers, Walter, Wayne and John.

Services will be Thursday, Oct. 31st at 11:00 a.m. at Sterling United Methodist Church with Pastor Matt Weaver officiating.  Burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.  Friends may call Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. at Murray Funeral Home in Creston.  Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com  Memorial contributions may be made to Sterling United Methodist Church, 13584 Kauffman Ave., Sterling, OH 44276.
