Betty L. Troyer, 61, of Fredericksburg, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on February 18,2020. She bravely battled cancer three times in her life. Cancer cannot beat you when your goal is Heaven.
She was born on April 9, 1958 to the late Atlee and Vera (Kandel) Weaver of Apple Creek, OH. She married David Troyer on May 24, 1987. Betty accepted Christ as a young girl and was a lifelong member of Salem Mennonite Church of Wooster, where she taught bible school, Sunday school, served as treasurer, and was a sweet inspiration to all she met.
Betty went to grade school in Apple Creek, then graduated from Central Christian High School in 1976. She then served 3 years in voluntary service in Los Angeles, CA before graduating from Wooster Business College. She started working at the Apple Creek Bank as a teller and rose to Branch Manager and an officer of the corporation. After leaving the bank to be a homemaker, she later became employed by the US Postal Service as a clerk in Holmesville and Shreve. Later spending 15 years as a rural mail carrier in Holmesville where she daily served her many friends with a smile. She retired in July 2019 due to health concerns.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by children, Ryan Troyer of Wooster, Kelly Troyer of Fredericksburg, and Brady Troyer of Fredericksburg; brothers and sisters, Ruby Kuhns of Beach City, OH, Ivan (Joyce) Weaver of Kidron, OH, Alice (John) Shetler of Kidron, Mary Helen (Alan) Heinbaugh of Massillon, Shirley (Stan) Ross of Apple Creek, Harold (Lisa) Weaver of Cape Coral, FL., Art (Mandy) Weaver of Apple Creek, John (Deb) Weaver of Apple Creek, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters Miriam Ng of Hillside New Jersey, and Loretta (Freeman) Miller of Millersburg, brother-in-law, Sam Kuhns of Beach City.
She loved and cared for her family, church, and community, and enjoyed going to her children’s many activities. Thank you to OSU Hospital in Columbus and Akron General for their compassionate care over the last year.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Fredericksburg Presbyterian Church with Pastor David Hargrave officiating. Graveside services will be prior to the services on Monday at 9:30 a.m.at Maple Grove Cemetery at Salem Mennonite Church of Wooster. Friends may call on Sunday February 23 from 2-6 p.m. at Fredericksburg Presbyterian Church. Murray Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Salem Mennonite Church of Wooster, OH.
