Andrea H. Grown Hanna, 80, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 13, 2021. She lived with her daughter and son-in-law, Diane H. and Paul Malanga and two of her grandsons in Burbank, Ohio
She was born during a snowstorm on March 24, 1941 in Englewood Hospital in New Jersey to Fred and Helene Grown and grew up in Edgewater, NJ where she raised her family and lived until 1995. As a young girl, she had pets which she loved. She had a dog, a cat and birds and she honestly said,” I didn’t like the mess that the birds made as it was my responsibility to clean it up.”
At age 10 she became a Girl Scout which she enjoyed. When she was 15, she received the Curve Bar Scout Award which was the highest level a Girl Scout could become. Andrea attended school at Dwight Morrow High School and graduated from there in 1958. During her high school days, she played on the softball team and was an avid tennis player and enjoyed bowling.
Andrea married Henry “Hank” R. Hanna on May 7, 1960 and he went home to meet the Savior in 2000. She and Hank had three children, Henry R. Hanna Jr. who resides in New Hampshire, Frederick A. “Buddy” Hanna who went home to Heaven in 2016 and Diana H. Malanga of Burbank. She was blessed with one granddaughter, Corin Hanna, three grandsons, Matthew Malaga, Daniel Malanga and Andrew Hanna and two great-grandsons, Jayse McGovern and Leo Malanga.
Andrea and Hank were married 40 years and in 1995 they retired and took the plunge to follow their lifelong dream. They sold their home and a good portion of their belongings to buy a 29 foot motorhome. Together they traveled the USA for 5 years and visited 46 States and every winter they lived in St. Augustine, FL. In all their travels, Hank fell in love with the Grand Tetons in WY and for Andrea it was Brice Canyon in Utah.
We all make good decisions and not so good decisions in our lives. For Andrea the best and most important decision she made was to accept Jesus as her Lord and Savior which she gave Him her heart and her life in 1980. That started her on an amazing journey with Him in which He changed the old her and made her a new and better person. With a thankful heart she always gave Him all the glory, honor and praise.
A celebration of Andrea’s life will be held on Saturday, May 22nd at 11:00 a.m. at Crossroad Assembly of God, 10220 Wooster Pike, Creston, OH with Pastor Mike Boggs officiating. Tributes may be shared at www.Murray-Funeral-Home.com Memorial contributions may be made to the church in Andrea’s memory.
The Bible says that here we see him as through a clouded glass but then we will see Him face to face.
